CCTV Footage: Mumbai Woman Dies while trying to Deboard a moving Train

The video of a woman falling off a train at Borivali station while deboarding went viral Wednesday.

On January 15, Kirandevi Kishorilal Kothari (55) along with her family boarded the Vadodara Express from Surat. According to GRP officials, they were headed to Mumbai to visit a relative. However due to some confusion, she along with her nephew Tarun Singhi and a female relative started alighting the train while it was moving. The accident claimed the woman’s life.

Kothari was travelling with a large group, said officials.

In the CCTV footage, the woman’s female relative is seen deboarding the train first, followed by her nephew. The nephew is seen keeping the luggage on the platform. Dressed in an orange saree, Kothari is the last one to alight after both her relatives. She is seen sliding into the gap under the train.

GRP officials said that Kothari’s nephew tried to rescue her, but she sustained injuries to her mouth and nose and was bleeding profusely.

“The train was immediately stopped after some commotion, following the accident. It was then reversed to rescue the victim. She was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead,” an official said. The halt at Borivali station was for two minutes, he added.
