Commissioner of Police (law and order), VV Lakshmi Narayana, has ordered a detailed inquiry against the senior police inspector of Hill Line (Ulhasnagar) police station,Mohan Waghmare.
Ulhasnagar: In an another example of Mumbai Police going on moral policing spree, a youth and his female friend were humiliated and publicly abused in Ulhasnagar district.
It is not known who shot the video or when the incident took place.
When contacted, the police station concerned said it had no knowledge about existence of such a video. The video shows the senior inspector hitting the youth with his hands and kicking him in public view as a constable stands by.
A youth and his female friend were reportedly sitting in an auto-rickshaw when the police official accompanied by a constable approached them.
Yet another incident of moral policing has come to light in Maharashtra.
Police inspector Waghmare said, "The local residents complained about the couple getting involved in obscene activities and therefore took an action against them". I thought that the people themselves would start assaulting the couples. "We found this couple in the auto, indulging in obscene acts".
