I was the real target of the CBI raid: Kejriwal attacks Modi, Jaitley

NEW DELHI: A visibly animated Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal came out all guns blazing against the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening, and accused CBI of raiding his office for files which have finance minister Arun Jaitley's name in the Delhi District Cricket Association case. A probe is currently underway in the case in which Jaitley has been accused of shielding corrupt officials when he was chief of the state cricket body.

Although CBI has denied raiding the CM's office and said that raids were conducted on the office of Rajindra Kumar who is principal secretary to the Delhi CM, Kejriwal said the denial was a lie and questioned the motive. "What were they doing today? CBI came and inspected all files in my office. They looked at each and every file. What are they looking for? It is now important to tell. The file is of the DDCA in which Arun Jaitley is involved. Arun Jaitley was president of the DDCA for several years and there was corruption inside DDCA," said the Delhi CM. "I formed a committee and it has given its report. An inquiry commission is to be set up and the file is in my office. They came to look for Arun Jaitley's file."

Kejriwal also pointed out that Rajendra Kumar had held senior positions in the departments of education, IT and VAT.

"If they were looking for proof of corruption, they should be looking for the concerned files in those departments.

"But I do not think the (CBI) action is to check (corrupt) contracts. If he had given out contracts wrongly, those departments should have been raided. The files (related to his alleged corruption) are there."

Kejriwal said he was firmly opposed to corruption, and he would not mind sending his own son to jail if he indulged in corruption.
