A club cricket match in Bermuda turned ugly when two players got physically involved on the field. Jason Anderson, representing Cleveland County Cricket Club provoked Willow Cuts Cricket Club batsman George O'Brien, which resulted in a heated brawl in the centre of the pitch.
Anderson, who has represented Bermuda 14 times has has been handed a life-ban, while O'Brien was suspended for six matches. The incident began with Anderson slapping O'Brien on the back of his head, after which the batsman retaliated by wildly swinging his bat, narrowly missing Anderson. Both players continued the tussle and threw each other to the ground.
The players and the umpires intervened to get things under control, after which Carlton Smith, Cleveland President, asked Anderson to leave the field. He was found guilty of breaching Level 4 Code of Conduct that involves physically assaulting another player. O'Brien too was charged with Level 3 Code of Conduct Breach, one that involves a threat of assault on another player.
